Born as Ha Miso and the eldest daughter of the Ha family, her and her younger brother, Izumi, were raised by their dad and on occasion, their aunties and uncles as well as their grandparents. The Ha siblings' mother had passed away from a terminal illness when Miso was 7 and Izumi was 5. Clementine had lived in Korea for most of her life before moving overseas for college, graduating with a double degree in Liberal Arts and Business at NYU.

After graduating from college, she had stayed in New York for a couple of years for work before feeling homesick. She then moved back to Seoul where she took over the family business, Persimmon Studio. Persimmon Studio is a film photography studio that was previously owned by her grandfather and which was passed on to her father then it was passed onto her when her dad decided to retire and look after her grandparents and their persimmon farm. It was named after the persimmon farm her grandparents owned in Wanju County, North Jeolla. Another reason is because of the family's overwhelming love for persimmons.

The English name Clementine came from her grandparents' love for Freddy Quinn's "Oh My Darling Clementine"; also meaning "mild/gentle/merciful." in Latin. Her parents named her "Miso" (λ―Έμ†Œ) in hopes that their daughter would grow up with a smile on her face and bring happiness and joy to others around her. Kang-Ha is a combination of her mother's surname "Kang" and her father's surname "Ha". This was a decision made by Clementine and Izumi the moment they were old enough to change it legally to honour their late mother.
